Wildlife visitation at abandoned mines

چکیده
Abstract Abandoned mines provide habitat for bats, but their importance to other wildlife is less understood. This descriptive study was designed answer the following questions with an emphasis on carnivores: are species than bats visiting abandoned mines, entering does visitation at differ seasonally, and individual mines? To address these questions, we monitored 50 using remote cameras in northern Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Colorado, USA, 25,201 camera days from May 2017 August 2020. We 2 phases. Geoenvironmental Characterisation of Heap Leach Materials at Abandoned Mines: Croydon Au-Mines, QLD, Australia
Heap leaching is a well-established metallurgical technology which allows metal recovery (e.g., Au, Cu, U) from low-grade ores. However, spent heap leach materials remaining at abandoned or historic mine sites may represent a potential source of contamination. At the Croydon Au-mines, heap leaching operations (1984–1985) were performed on mineralized rhyolites hosting sulphides including pyrite...
متن کاملAbandoned Uranium Mines Project Atlas Project Overview
The Navajo Nation is located on the Colorado Plateau and encompasses over 25,000 square miles across Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The distinctive physiography of this region has resulted in a major mining area for uranium. The Navajo Nation includes intensely dissected rocky regions and has elevations that range from about 3,000 feet to slightly over 10,000 feet. The region is known for a wid...
متن کاملA system for volumetric robotic mapping of abandoned mines
This paper describes two robotic systems developed for acquiring accurate volumetric maps of underground mines. One system is based on a cart instrumented by laser range finders, pushed through a mine by people. Another is a remotely controlled mobile robot equipped with laser range finders. To build consistent maps of large mines with many cycles, we describe an algorithm for estimating global...

Objective. This study was performed to review the clinical utility of commercial laboratory Toxoplasmosis-specific IgM testing during pregnancy and outcomes of the gestation at our institution. Methods. A retrospective review of all women referred for suspected acute Toxoplasma gondii infection during pregnancy from 1984 through 2004 was performed. Women were diagnosed with suspected acute toxo...
متن کاملAn Autonomous Robotic System for Mapping Abandoned Mines
We present the software architecture of a robotic system for mapping abandoned mines. The software is capable of acquiring consistent 2D maps of large mines with many cycles, represented as Markov random fields. 3D C-space maps are acquired from local 3D range scans, which are used to identify navigable paths using A* search. Our system has been deployed in three abandoned mines, two of which i...
